Consultation Booking, Fee, and Cancellation Policy
Farinaz Taheri, Licensed Paralegal — Member of the Law Society of Ontario, LSO #P09410
1. This Policy, Not an Agreement
This Policy explains the terms on which consultations are booked through this website. It is a general statement of our booking practices — it is not a retainer agreement, does not create a paralegal-client relationship, and does not constitute legal advice. A paralegal-client relationship is formed only when a separate, signed engagement or retainer agreement is in place.
2. Nature of a Consultation
An initial consultation is a limited-scope, fixed-duration meeting to review your matter and outline general options. It is preliminary in nature. No ongoing representation, filing, correspondence, or advocacy is undertaken as part of a consultation unless and until a separate written retainer is signed.
3. Fees and Payment
Consultation fees are due in advance at the time of booking, by the method indicated at booking. Current rates are posted on the booking page and are subject to HST. Fees for any further retainer are set out separately in the applicable retainer agreement.
4. Cancellation and No-Refund Policy
- Consultation fees are non-refundable, except as set out below.
- Appointments may be rescheduled or cancelled free of charge up to 48 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
- Cancellations or rescheduling requests made less than 48 hours before the appointment, and any missed ("no-show") appointment, forfeit the full consultation fee. No refund or credit will be issued.
- Requests to cancel or reschedule must be made in writing (email or the booking platform) and are effective on receipt, not on sending.
5. No Guarantee of Outcome
Nothing said or provided during a consultation is a guarantee, prediction, or warranty of any outcome. Every matter depends on its own facts, applicable law and evidence, all of which may change.
6. Confidentiality
Information you share in booking or attending a consultation is treated as confidential and is protected by paralegal-client privilege once a paralegal-client relationship is formed, and otherwise held in confidence in accordance with the Paralegal Rules of Conduct, except where disclosure is required by law.
7. Limitation of Scope and Liability
Services are limited to matters within the permitted scope of practice of a Licensed Paralegal under Law Society of Ontario By-Law 4. Matters outside that scope will be identified, and you will be advised to consult a lawyer. To the fullest extent permitted by law, liability arising from a consultation is limited to the fee paid for that consultation.
8. Privacy
Personal information collected through this website and the booking process is collected, used, and disclosed only for the purpose of providing services to you, and is handled in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law.
9. Governing Law
This Policy is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.
